A New Friend

This is Max.  Jumping on the table is not allowed here and he is learning that quickly.

When Corey left, of course he took his little pooch Kiki with him.  Kiki had become great friends with both Bosco and Harley.  All three were playing all the time. When Kiki left, Harley began tormenting Bosco to play ALL THE TIME.  Mostly that meant Harley knipped at Bosco's ears, nose and the back of his hind leg.  Bosco was in misery.  So I got the idea that Harley needed a play friend.  I searched Min Pin rescue sights but none were close to home.  Then I spotted Max and low and behold he was right here in a town 5 miles away.  I mentioned him to Terry who said he would rather not have a brown Min Pin.  Every day I looked at Max's picture...sometimes several times a day.  When Terry had a doc appt a few days later right near the Humane Society, I asked him to go by and see Max.  I couldn't get him off my mind.  The HS called him Spock because of his ears.  He was taken in as a stray and no one came to look for him.  That broke my heart. The HS estimated that he is about 2 years old, updated his shots and neutered him.  He has what I call Donkey Ears that stand tall and the shortest legs I ever saw.  I made an application to adopt him and the next day took Harley to see him.  Harley can be sassy and I wanted to be sure they would get along.  The meet went well and we brought Spock home.  I immediately renamed him Max. After all, Spock was not his real name anyway.  On the way home, Harley sat on my lap and would NOT even look at me..jealousy was rearing it's ugly head.  It took Harley about 5 days to adjust to Max and play with him.  They get along great as long as no toys are involved because Harley thinks every toy in the house is his. Bosco thinks Max is great.  Max is my shadow and I love him dearly.  Sometimes I think about how he came to be at the HS.  But sometimes when I go to pet him he flinches leading me to think he has been hit.  I can't imagine why anyone would find the need to hit him. So now I have 3 dogs again.

It's been a while since I posted.  A really lot of things are going on in my life.  I'll be posting in February talking about what I have been up to.  If I had a New Year resolution, it would be to post more.  I have been reading your posts, but not commenting much.  I get that way sometimes.  Luckily I didn't get hit with depression this holiday.  That may have been the first time in many, many years.

Grateful:  Oh, that is easy today.  I am grateful for Dog Rescue organizations and totally support them as I can.  Max is a wonderful dog and I just can't tell you how happy he makes me.

Tell me something happy today.  We are expecting 6 inches of snow and the temperature on Wednesday is forecasted to be -20 and -40 windchill. I hope my birds and fish survive.
xx, Carol

Here is a happy thing: My goose Sam Houston (a female goose) has a chin that is absolutely hilarious. It's a waddle I guess, and you can hear it shake when she shakes her head! Titus (another female goose-I only have 2 geese)doesn't have this chin. She has always been the Queen Goose, and Sam has had to be the second in pecking order. But now Titus limps a little more than usual. Her arthritis is getting worse. So Sam will sometimes pick Titus's neck, just to let her know that now SAM is in charge! Animals are amazing with such complicated and funny personalities, all unique. My geese are going to be 18 years old in June.
We are going to get snow tomorrow too-and the awful cold. So the geese will be in our backroom in their kiddie pool filled with straw until it's at least 20 degrees.

Your new doggie is just beautiful! I'm so happy you rescued him!

Aww - little Max is adorable! So happy you have him. I'm happy today that I have had 13 years with my Neptune. She has been a dear sweet dog, with the same ears as your Max. She uses them to tell us things. For example when she is confused (one ear up, one ear down) not feeling well, (one ear up, one ear sideways) etc. I hope you have as many years happy with your Max. Oh, and congrats not getting depressed this year.

How adorable! He looks and sounds like the perfect addition to your home.
Winter is hitting you hard. Grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup is a great lunch for a snowy day. Finish it with a cup of hot tea.
Good to see you posting again.

SOmething Happy......Just kidding. I just (nov) joined my first real quilt gild! the last one I was a member of was through the church and was as micky mouse as they come!
I have been using charity quilts as my practice quilts on the long arm I've done maybe 11-12? mostly baby, lap to twin size and i'm just now getting to feel like I may be good at this someday!
I also joined the community service committee, in for a penny in for a pound right?
So far last year was good, no real problems,no crisis, no drama,YaY!
Here's hoping to continue the trend for this year!

It’s good to finally see a picture of Max and hear the full story of how your hearts came together! I take it that Terry has warmed up to the new fur kid in the ‘hood too! Glad you didn’t get bitten by the winter depression bug either. Spring is coming!! Bruce is re-retiring at the end of February, and we have a vacation planned in Sunny Arizona for two weeks BEFORE then! YAY!!

Love your little Min Pin... I've rescued one too... one of these days I'll blog about him. He was roaming our neighborhood for over a month before I caught him (I'd been feeding him the whole time) He is missing one of his paws! He gets around just fine, but wow huh?

I totally get what your saying about blogging. At one point in my life, my blog, WAS my life... now at times it gets in the way of my life lol.... such is life huh?
big hugs!

Max looks like a great addition to your family. Happy things. Well, babies still laugh when you tickle them. Cats still purr when you pet them. There's still nothing better than a husband, not even a new dog. =) And you didn't get blue during the holidays! Yay!
