A Little This - A Little That

This is what I see when I look out of my kitchen window.  The trumpet vine is filled with flowers that attract the Hummers all day long.  Unfortunately Black Ants love them too and they are finding their way into the house.  One of the many drawbacks of living on a crawl space foundation I guess.  I can see the pond from the bathroom window too, but when I look out, I mostly see the weeds that are taking over the back yard because we have had non stop record rains for the last two weeks.

I admit that I have avoided posting until Blogger had the comment issue corrected.  I knew they would fix it.  Though I am not a computer guru, I understand what they are up to and it's OK with me.  Keep it all in the Android platform and comply with all the rules the law has set up across the globe.  I have long favored Yahoo for my email, but admit that the enhancements to Gmail have me using it even more.  I have used Chrome for a long time and recently added an extension called Privacy Badger which has eliminated all those annoying adds that appear on the side bar when I am surfing the web.  You know the ones that haunt you because you happened to be shopping for something and the cookies keep the ads showing up even though you already made a purchase.

Since I like to respond to blog comments via a return e-mail, I am hoping the fix works for me.

***** Oh, I have one blog commenter who is anonymous.  Whoever you are, please reply to this post and include your email address.  Since I moderate comments, it won't appear on my blog.  You have previously asked me questions that I can't respond to and I rarely, if ever respond in the blog comments  IN the blog comments.*****

Here is a bit of news:  I am going to be a GREAT grandma.  I am already a great grandma, but now I am going to be an actual GREAT GRANDMA.  Corey's wife is about 2 months pregnant.  Too soon to know if it is a boy or girl.  I am keeping an eye on the CDC map of known ZIKA virus cases since they are planning to go to Miami to see her family in August.

When I get up in the morning I always grab a cup of coffee, let the dogs out and head to my room.  When they come back in, Harley always comes to my room to keep me company.  First he is chewing a bone.  The next time I look he is zonked out.  Then I look and Bosco is providing a pillow.  Pretty soon, they both get up and go back to bed with Terry.  It's our routine, lol.

Grateful:  Today, for my birds.  We have had two Blue Bird Broods and my Three Crows are now four.  Mom, Dad and Two Babies who have all come to visit.  I suspect my Third Crow has mated since I now have a second family visiting regularly.  Sorrowfully, I have only one frog so far as two have left the pond.

Tell me how YOUR June is going.
xx, Carol

Sweet! Congratulations!! Babies are so much fun. one of my daughters servers is preggo so I made a baby quilt for her, fun, fun. we have been into the wacky weather here for a wile now, sometimes up to 80* then down to 50* at night or cold and dreary all day for weeks or 50-60* till 2p when you suddenly notice its sunny out and popped back up to 80* then back down to 50-60* when the sun disappears. My veggis are vEry confused but the roses and other flowers are loving it. I now have a bunny population, that needs culling...-.- little bast*^$s ate my tulips down to the ground this year. I need to move my trumpet vine, I put it under a tree thinking it would do fine, no. my hummers would love it!

This is to test moderation. After I made the changes to receive a notice of comments made, I did not receive a moderation notification. So I went to the moderate setting and deleted my email addresss, saved the change, then reentered the email address and saved again. I receive my subscribe to moderation invitation and we'll see how that worked.

That’s what worked for me, Carol. But I don’t know if it would forward a comment on my blog from me. Haven’t tried that.
Made me giggle that we were “invited” to get notifications. I mean, since when did we have to be invited to set up our blog the way we wanted it. Haha

I'm glad that blogger has fixed the comment issues and it's wonderful news that you'll be an actual great grandma as well as a great grandma already! I wonder if I will ever be a grandma let alone great! I hope some more frogs will come soon to keep your last one company :)

Awww-sorry about having just one frog! I do love hearing the frogs and tree toads in the pond near us. The pond is in the woods, hidden from our sight. But every year the peepers start the chorus, and then the frogs and toads wind up the summer with their garupming and trilling. I'm so very thankful for the second robin's nest in our eyelash window sill upstairs, where I get a 'bird's eye view of the babies as they grow (way too fast). And so thankful for the wonderful lightning bugs, that are still very plentiful here. I heard there is a decline in their numbers-which is very sad.

How exciting. Someone must have started really early, because you don't seem old enough to be a great grandma! Hopefully, another frog will come looking for a nice pond home. What a wildlife refuge you have there. I have those black ants, too, the half-inch long ones? I don't have a crawl space on the bottom. I have a cement slab and a basement. About three years ago they were really horrid! Now it's every now and then I find one. After the previous horrid year, I can live with that!

Hi Carol, It has been wettish here as well but enough sun in between to keep a balance. Daughter has ants too but she has a completely above ground basement so I think they will find a way in. I was worried about our completely wooden house being more attractive to such but no that hasn't happened...fingers crossed.
I have lots of everything here...frogs sing us to sleep every night, lol. The little pond is a haven of course.
Your morning routine is very similar to mine as I am up much earlier than Tony and the dogs and I do our morning thing.
You seem so young to be a great grandma...how wonderful for you to see your lineage stretch out like that. The best of luck to the littlest little being.

Yay for the trumpet vine and the hummers! Congratulations on the prospective great grandchild!

Congratulations on your soon to be Great Grandma status! I'm sure you will love that. I don't have a trumpet vine but do have honeysuckle which has grown up high in a golden chain tree and the hummers love it. So do I, the yard is redolent with the scents of honeysuckle and rose. Our cool weather helps these flowers to stick around longer than hot weather would allow.

I’m a great grandma! My great grandson was born on June 19th! I’m too young to be a great grandma but here I am!

We don’t have frogs except for decorative ones but I found out the strange looking poop out back is actually 3” long slugs! Yikes! I put down some snail bait today. I don’t like to because one of my dogs eats everything and even though it’s primarily iron and supposedly safe around dogs, I worry she’ll eat too much of it so I have to be really careful about watching her when she goes outside for a few days.

Hopefully you’ll get some tadpoles from so much rain and get your frogs back again. And congrats on your new grand baby coming along!
