Do You Know Who Goethe Is?

Well.  I won't be telling you here.  But I will tell you that he was a German Genius who lived in the early 1800s.  I found out about him surfing around about color.

However, when I read a little about him, I came across the following quote.  His thought parallels  what I have come to realize in the last ten or so years.  For me, it was not a frightening, but enlightening realization.

Here is what he said:

I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration, I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis is escalated or de-escalated, and a person is humanized or de-humanized. If we treat people as they are, we make them worse. If we treat people as they ought to be, we help them become what they are capable of becoming. ~Goethe

Its a passage that we should read often, don't you think? A reminder to look for the good and the positive and face the day with a smile.

I've been away from the blog for a while.  I always shift gears in the summer.  My job has been even more busy than it ever has.  I have been focused on spending time with Terry and the boys.  I have been giving needed attention to Junior. Its part of my "ME" time now and I am happy that it is.  My garden is a jungle due to the high heat and humidity.  Its been all but impossible to work outside.  But!! I have a wonderful container garden on the front deck that has flourished.  I'm sure that I will continue THAT next summer.  NO WEEDS!!

I have been sewing a little, along with a little crochet and a little embroidery.  A little of this and that which are WIP.

Life is good to me, is it to you?
