My Back Hurts When I Do The Dishes

He mentioned to me that his back hurts when he does dishes.
I thought, yeah right, though it was out of character for him to complain about work.
The other night, he called his brother to the kitchen.
I heard dish water running.
Peeking in, I saw him hunched over the sink.
He is 15 and 6'3".
Later I looked in.
I wish I had taken a picture.
He was kneeling at the sink.
On his knees, he stands about as tall as me when I'm standing.
So I got my stool.
Folded a bath towel on it
So he could be comfortable.

OK, I know this isn't funny but it is FUNNY! Cute actually..I'm only 5'3" (& still shrinking!) and my son is 6'3" so I know from where you are coming from!

What a great kid!!!!! :-)

I understand what he is saying. We know a couple who are both very tall. The wife is 6 ft. and her husband is taller. They say that houses are not built for tall people. They were so tired of bending over to work at the kitchen counter, and to brush their teeth, etc. at the bathroom sink, that they eventually had higher counters put in both places. Your sweet grandson may do that someday when he has his own home!

This post made me smile and that was a great idea to get out the stool to kneel on!!! It is hard to stoop over the sink and do dishes when you are tall. You have some great helpers, my friend! XOX

That is so funny. My son is 6'2" and he spent his navy years bent over to the point he ended up with a bad back. My daughter has higher than normal counters in her house. At least you've found a solution! But he's only 15? So how tall will he be when he's done growing?

Good solution, hope he keeps up with it. When we've replaced things in our house we've always made them higher because all 3 guys are over 6' tall. And to partially answer freebird's question, my 22 year old is still growing!! So they grow forever....

It's just so nice to see them helping out with the dishes. That's a cute picture of him on that stool! Gosh, 6'3"...I can see why leaning over the sink would give him a backache! Nice to be tall though! xo Paulette
