This is Susan (on the right). This was a Very Good Day for me.
Susan is one of my Cyber Friends. We met last year when while participating in the Bead Journal Project. Susan and I keep in contact occasionally via email. When she and her husband were going to be visiting family that live near me, I am so glad that she contacted me to see if we could meet.
It was a lovely visit. She brought some of her BJP pages and I brought mine. Its really neat to see other beader's work in person. I hope that we will be able to share more time together in the future.
When Susan's husband asked me why I chose an octagon shape for my pages, I really didn't think much about it. My answer was that I want them to fit together nicely. I am planning to use them to embellish a tote or purse.
But, if you know me, you know that I know there is a reason for everything we do, every choice we make. That got me to thinking about why I chose the shape. I played with it quite a bit to get each side the correct length. Six sides would have been easier. You might remember that I mentioned that my theme for this years project is Celebrate Who You Are. Well, an octagon shape is perfect for my Me Celebration. I am multi faceted, multi talented, multi personalitied, just plain multi. Maybe Eight is Not Enough!

I've been lazy. Well, that's not really true. I have been battling alergies and that just zaps my energy. We have been running around for the last few weekends. Terry told me we have to stay home this weekend. There is yardwork to be done! Yay if the weather co-operates.
I pick the beads up a little, so I will be more focussed on that. and....I am waiting for my order of fabric dyes from my new friend, Dick Blick. Nope, its not a passing fancy. You are going to see more fiber work from me.
I also am putting together a new cuff idea..nope, not many beads in this one. Recycling is involved along with vintage personal charms of mine and those of my mom. Its amazing what you can find when you search through all your jewelry boxes. How the heck did I accumulate so many St. Christopher metals!!
We'll see what the weekend brings.

How does a kid go from BMX bike tricks
I don't really wonder about that. I guess its all part of growing up and just plain growing.
Take me. I know how to do a multitude of what some people call crafts. Actually, I made quite a bit of money at it about l0-15 years ago participating in local craft shows. Jewelry was always in demand. And that whole country craft era brought lots of sales too. I may do that again someday. Maybe that's why I have a hard time destashing.
I am still beading, still participating in the BJP, still have to be nosey and see what everyone is doing. But I have lots of other interests too. I plan to dye/paint a couple of jackets. I am researching dyes now. I used to use Rit but maybe there is something better now. I have accumulated some fabric paints for that same project. And don't forget CQ. I used to do it years ago. I am amazed at how many CQers there are on the internet. I wish I had continued honing my skills all these years and wonder why I ever put it aside.
Things in my life are on a more even keil now. Even though my daughter and grandsons temporarily live here, I don't feel the responsibility to be sure everyone is fed everyday, or to do their laundry or any other thing for that matter. I look after Terry and I which is what two people our age are meant to do. Its a freeing feeling. You might remember this was won of my New Year Intentions. Guess I am following through.
So, for today, I am making dinner for everyone with help when requested. (My kitchen is small). Later, I will be beading...quiet time for me.
