I love gimmicks. You have heard of them.  Little games you play to make yourself do chores that must be done.  Like when The Flylady told me to take 15 minutes a day to do just a little of a chore, like dusting or clearing the clutter from the dining room table.

I like to read the blogs that YOU are reading.  That's how I came across my newest favorite game.  The 366 Challenge.  You can read about it here.

I decided to play along.  Every day I'm going to choose an item, maybe more to donate or give to someone that can use it.  Maybe I'll even have a give-a-way or two.  Each week I'll post a picture of what I cleared out.  This isn't going to be easy, but I can DO it!!

It is a great idea. But can I do it, that is the question...........I will try. Do I have to start today? OMG.

Roberta, you are so funny.

Don't look at your beads. Don't look at your craft area.

Go to those cabinets or drawer where you store all the crap you don't

know what do to with. My gosh, I have shoe polish that's 20 years old.

Honestly, who uses shoe polish any more ~lol~ o, you don't need any do you?

Its funny the things we hold onto. We are all different. I do my upmost best to only bring things home that i'am absolutely in LOVE with. I sometimes walk around the store with it and end up putting it down instead of buying it. But even then i end up with too much.......all my stuff is packed away at the moment but when i can i'm sure some more clearing out will happen. I can't wait to see what you decide to part with. Hugs! deb

Now this is a good idea... I'd have to pick at least a dozen things a day to make a dent!

I wish I could do that. I'm also hoping to declutter but it won't be easy. Good luck Carol and happy days to you.

I started my One In, One Out several months ago and have been really trying to stick to it. I can't buy anything new until I throw out, give away or sell something.

And I am getting better at resisting fabric purchases on eBay. Just yesterday I had 8 items on my Watch List and about 10 minutes before the first item was to end, I deleted it. Felt good. And then I deleted ALL of them. No purchases that day. :D

Good luck with your challenge.

I went through a period of decluttering last year. Some things were easy to get rid of but some things were really difficult. The thing to remember is you can usually find a replacement if you find you really made a mistake. Good luck. You'll feel really good when you find you've made a good dent in your stuff.

Sounds like a very good idea. I'm curious about your 'show and tell'. I love what they do in Sydney - every so often they have a 'clear out day' and people put all their junk outside their houses at the side of the road. People go and rummage through and can take anything they can use - then the rest gets picked up by the city and taken to the dump. What a great way to encourage decluttering AND re-use. Wish they did it here in NZ.

We've been in de-clutter mode since hubby retired a few months ago.

We keep asking: "How can a family accumulate so many, ahem, "treasures" in a mere 40 years of marriage?"

LOL ;-) xo

So glad you are doing this with me! I can't wait to see your pics! I'll have another picture to post very soon. I've got another pile of stuff sitting on my dining room table as we speak.

I do it on regular basis, but most of it is cleared during the 2-3 great and I mean GREAT cleanings we make at our home. However, this is a wonderful challenge!
btw, the comic is fantastic!

oh my gosh that is brilliant!! I have committed to listing one item per day on ebay. Your idea is much much less selfish then mine. LOL.

But same idea...get rid of the excess! I think this is a brilliant idea that you have, and yes I agree, I think it will be tough at times. But one of my commitments to myself this year is to get less attached to material items. When my brother lost everything in a fire last year it got me thinking on how attached I was to my "stuff" and how it could be gone in an instant.

Will be fun to watch your posts.. they will inspire me to keep doing the same.

Thanks for sharing the photo editing options you use. I have several to check out before I make a decision about what to do. I wish mine wasn't going away.

Hi Carol. I visited the blog site and after thinking about it, I am going to do this. A little at a time and then post about what I have given. Great idea, as well as a great idea post. Thanks for sharing. It would be great if she did a link so that we could link back to her. Take care and you go girl!!
