October BJP

Happy Halloween!

I know, you're all thinking Halloween, spider web, spooky...huh? Well, no. This is quite an interspective page.

I thought..spider web, me caught in a spider web, spider web is a symbol of responsibility. So, now I am caught in the web of responsibility. But responsibility to what? Not thinking in terms of family, work, surely not HOUSEWORK. What?

A responsibility to this earth. Earth's every resource. The plants , animals, air and water. A commitment to conserve, recycle and protect wildlife. The faces depict my spirit guides. I love the concept of this page.

You can't tell here, but my face is was done by a process using Omni Gel. You copy a picture on a copy machine. Following the Gel instructions, you brush the Gel over the picture. When it dries you soak the paper in water and rub the paper off the dried Gel, leaving a rubbery kind of picture. I glued it to a button and sewed the button on the page. Cool process that I am going to want to play with in the future.

PS: Please view my two prior posts that were entered today also!

  1. What great thoughts went into this. It's wonderful. I've read about that gel transfer process, but I've never tried it. I look forward to seeing what you come up with next.

  3. This is quite different than your September page, but just as compelling... I looked at it a long time before I read what you wrote about it... I knew it was you in the web (thanks for revealing the gel process), but wasn't sure about the other three faces. I wondered if they had something to do with the seasons, but there were only three... It was fun to think about it. Then I enjoyed reading about it and learning that they are your spirit guides (nice to have them)! Love your pond pictures and pumpkin decorations too.

  6. I enjoyed your Oct page and I too often feel this burden. I have anxiety that we have overspent our account and it may be too late. I like how your heads look like they have storms for hair...I have not tried the product you have used but I did do gel transfer with Elmer's clear caulk and it worked beautifully. I suppose it's similar. Congrats on month two!

  7. I like this page a lot! Very insightful thoughts on your feelings too! very interesting about the Omni Gel - I always hesitate to get into "something new" and spend more $$$... but this is very intriguing. Love your new pond and the pics of your yard.

  9. Thanks to everyone who visited and left a comment. I found it interesting that some might think my responsibility is a burden. Not at all. It has become a way of life. All encompassing. Imbedded in my being. A Mission. A source of great satisfaction.

  10. Thank you for acknowledging what we must all be aware of - respecting our earthly resources. What a neat way to represent that. Looking forward to seeing November...

  11. Carol this is amazing! I love the way you chose to express yourself. I have had those very same doubts and fears and that feeling of being so overwhelmed many times in my life. Wonderful work. Got me wondering about that gel too....hmmm just what I need, something new to try! Anyway, great job. I give you an "A" Hugs!

  16. Very interesting page. Responsibility is like being caught in a web. I never thought of it that way before but as much as we like being responsible it is something that once recognized cannot be let go of. How many more gems are you going to come up with this year?

  17. Hey Freebird!! Its funny you should ask. I thought I would do something fun for November, but then a thought hit this AM and its slowly developing. But, I am going to add something fun to it, but what? That now becomes the thought provoker!

  18. What a great page! I really like what it represents! And, I do understand the responsibility just being a way of life, a mission that brings great satisfaction! You conveyed it perfectly! It would be wonderful if everyone made the same commitment!

I have seen the Omni Gel, but have never tried it! Great idea to put your picture on a button!

    Looking forward to seeing November!

    Take care...Lisa ;-)

P.S. Love your pond...it looks huge! The critters and birds will LOVE it! I can't wait to see it next spring with plants, etc. Beautiful sugar maple and nice pumpkins decorations! Happy Halloween!

  19. I love your web - it's beautiful. Though square-edged it could be seen as a mandala - the fact that it is representing aspects of your inner self and your thoughts about how you interact with and protect the world around you. We are all connected like beads of dew on a huge universal web! I love your spirit guides, too! (Incidentally I also have 3 spirit guides.)

  21. Hi, just catching up with the blogs and have just come across your very interesting and spell binding page. I actually think it links very well to your last page as it still has that element of mystery about about it. Can't wait to see November.
